The Mexican Center for Music and Sonic Arts (CMMAS) is pleased to announce that its library already has a terminal of the Virtual Network of Audio Libraries of the National Phonotheque. From the CMMAS library, you can query more than 400 thousand documents and listen to more than 40 thousand hours of audio, from private and public collections.
The Virtual Network of the National Phonotheque contains international and Mexican concert, traditional and popular music, jazz, radio, sonic landscapes, and an anthropological collection specialized in sound such as national patrimony, sounds in danger of extinction, dialects, etc. These categories will be constantly updated, together with the collection to increase the archives.
This collaboration between the National Phonotheque and the CMMAS has facilitated access to information and knowledge and it has provided the public with the opportunity to learn about the sonic collection preserved by the National Phonotheque. In addition, activities will be developed to promote and encourage the formation of listening circles.
Mechanics of consultation
Access to the Virtual Network of Audio Libraries of the National Phonotheque in the CMMAS library will be by appointment and it is necessary to contact Alma Raya at 443.317.56.79 or 443.313.83.43..
The hours for consultation are: 10:00 to 12:00hrs and from 16:00 to 18:00hrs.
The duration of each consultation will be 2 hrs. maximum.
