Concierto acerca del dialogo entre violin y electrónica, resultado de la residencia de la violinista Eliane Tokeshi en los estúdio del EEMS, con obras para violin, violin y electrónica, y electronica solo.

JANUIBE TEJERA

Januibe Tejera is a Brazilian composer and conductor, focused on contemporary music creation. His music dialog with different repertoire, arts, and traditions, including theater practices, traditional music from Brazil, multimedia projects, until contemporary music repertoire. As composer his work has been commissioned by major international ensemble such Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble TM+, Festival ENSEMS, Ensemble Phace, Festival Wien Modern, Ircam, Festival of Darmstadt and Festival Présence. He was artist in residence in diverse institution around the world, including member of the Casa Velazquez – Académie des Beaux de France, Sacatar Fondation, Camargo Foundation, Escola de Música do Estado de São Paulo and Conservatory of Strasbourg.


Januibe studied composition with Flavio Oliveira in Brazil, and Gérard Pesson in France. He has a Master diploma of the Conservatoire of Paris, received with the distinction of the Prix Salabert 2011. Presently, he is Assistant professor of composition at the University of Texas at Austin, and the director of Experimental and Electronic Music Studio at the same institution.



ALEXANDRE LUNSQUI

 

Alexandre Lunsqui’s music incorporates influences ranging from the spectralist practices to jazz and Brazilian music. He was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and studied at the University of Campinas, University of Iowa, Columbia University, and IRCAM. His main teachers were Tristan Murail, Fred Lerdahl, and Augusto Mannis. Lunsqui has received awards from the Guggenheim Foundation, American Academy of Arts and Letters, Koussevitzky Foundation, Harvard Fromm Music Foundation, Ministry of Culture of France, National Foundation of Arts in Brazil, Composers Conference, among others. He has been composer-in-residence for the Chelsea Music Festival, Nief-Norf Music Festival, and a Civitella Ranieri Fellow (Italy). Currently, Lunsqui is a Professor in Composition and Theory at the Sao Paulo State University (Brazil) and a Visiting Professor of Composition at the Nanjing University of the Arts (China). JIAXIN ZHANG

 

As a composer, Jiaxin Zhang has composed music for orchestra, chamber ensembles, solo, microfilm, dance, and commercials. She seeks to discover the sonic potentialities of acoustic instruments and explore the intersection between Eastern and Western instruments. Traditional Chinese music, architecture, painting, and other art forms are the main inspirations for her works. Influenced by electronic and spectral music, she is currently experimenting with interdisciplinary collaborations, utilizing multimedia to interpret her musical ideas.

 

 

DENIZ ASLAN

Deniz Aslan is a composer and a bassoonist specializing in new music. He was born in 1997 in Ankara, Turkey. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in composition from Bilkent University under the supervision of Tolga Yayalar. As of 2025, he is a DMA student and an Assistant Instructor at the University of Texas at Austin and continuing his studies under the supervision of Januibe Tejera. Deniz has worked with ensembles such as Arditti Quartet, Black Pencil, Yurodny Ensemble, Collegium Novum, HANATSUmiroir, United Instruments of Lucilin, and his music has been performed in Turkey, United States, Brazil, Italy, and Luxembourg. Deniz was a finalist in the 2023 Prix CIME Electronic Music Competition and the 2021 Balkan Composer Competition in Prishtina.


 

SILVIO FERRAZ

Silvio Ferraz is Brazilian composer, Full-Professor of musical composition at University of São Paulo (USP); Doctor in Semiotics by the Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC/SP); researcher of FAPESP and CNPQ. Author of Música e Repetição: a questão da diferença na música contemporânea, Livro das Sonoridades and several articles focused on Deleuze thought about art, mainly music. He studied composition with Brian Ferneyhough, Willy Correa de Oliveira and Gérard Grisey. His music has been performed by ensembles as Arditti String Quartet, Nash Ensemble, Smith Quartet, Iktus, Taller Musica Nova de Chile, New York New Music Ensemble.



  

BİKE ÖNER


Born in Istanbul, Turkey, and now based in Austin, USA, Bike is a composer and cellist whose work spans acoustic, electronic, and electro-acoustic compositions. She engages in both score-based and improvised performances, as well as artistic research, seamlessly blending elements of traditional and contemporary concert music with electronics.

Her music explores themes of proximity, memory, and (re/de)-construction, while her broader artistic vision delves into co-presence and mixed realities in states of transition and transformation.

Bike holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in cello performance and, in 2022, earned a Master of Music Composition from Istanbul Technical University MIAM – Center for Advanced Studies in Music. Her works have been presented on stages across Turkey and internationally.

Currently, she is pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin, Butler School of Music, and works in the Electronic and Experimental Music Studios (EEMS).


GABRIEL ARAÚJO

Multimedia composer/performer and sound engineer. Gabriel studied composition with Paulo Guicheney at the Universidade Federal de Goiás (Brasil), and obtained his master's degree from the CNSMD de Lyon (France), where he studied with Michele Tadini and attended the classes of Martin Matalon and François Roux.  He is currently a DMA candidate in composition at the University of Texas at Austin under the guidance of Januibe Tejera. He received the Funarte composition prize at the Biennial of Contemporary Brazilian Music,the Rainwater Innovation Grant, and was a finalist at Prix CIME/ICEM and MA/IN Awards.

ELIANE TOKESHI

Violin

Violinist Eliane Tokeshi's multifaceted career encompasses performances as a chamber musician, soloist and pedagogue. With a bachelor's degree from State of Sao Paulo University, Ms. Tokeshi continued her studies at Boston University and Northwestern University, where she completed, respectively, master's and doctorate courses in violin. She has performed several premieres of works, a consequence of outstanding work aimed at valuing the Brazilian and contemporary repertoire. Ms. Tokeshi has recorded the CDs Works for Violin and Piano by César Guerra-Peixe (YB label), Sounds of Americas as a member of Núcleo Hespérides (SESC label) and Fragments of a Solar Winter with the Trio Tokeshi-Rosas-Bazarian (ProacSP). Associate Professor at the Department of Music at the University of São Paulo (Brazil), Ms. Tokeshi is, currently, a guest artist of EEMS at University of Texas, Austin, sponsored by the Brazilian agency FAPESP.
